Customer Reviews of Van Der Hagen Natural Boar Shave Brushes (Pack of 3)Customer Review: Not bad for a starter Summary: 3 Stars
Badger hair brushes tend to be better quality, but some guys cannot afford 70 + that the really fine ones cost. I own one and several others brushes, some antique. For the price it is a good deal. When it was first used a couple of loose hairs came out, but since (going on 4 years almost) it performs well. I take it with me when I travel. I have a bad habit of leaving things behind in hotels. If you lose this one it is no great problem because it is dirt cheap to replace. I don't think some reviewers know how to care for them. Use very hot water, good soap (I use an organic soap) and when you are trying to work up a lather don't smash the bush down into the soap. It is natural hair after all. It will break if you are to rough on it. When you are finished wash out any remaining soap, and hang upside down to dry. If you are using soap with a lot of chemicals like SLS you can damage the hairs by leaving soapy water in the brush. So give it try, and consider getting an all natural soap like Dr. Bronner's for it.
