I am a nurse out in the field and I just don't have time to use an oral thermometer. So, I got this cool little gadget. For the first few patients the temp kept reading around 97.0 degrees. I was getting a bit dismayed about the accuracy. It was definitely user error. I read the directions, but didn't pay attention that it must be pointed at the temple and not just the forehead. With that correction, I was getting very accurate temps. In order for this to work, you must have it pointed at the heat sensor of the temporal lobe. It is quick and very easy. It saves me so much time. I just wish it was a way to quiet the beep and allow you to just use the light as an indicator.
