Customer Review: Accurate and better than a regular thermometer

First we were using a regular thermometer given by a hospital, but my 3 month old hated it being measured under her armpit.
Sometimes we got a reading in about 10 seconds, but sometimes it took a good minute which feels like FOREVER when you have a squirming and crying infant in your hands.
Then we read on [...] that the armpit measurement can be off by 2 degrees (which is quite huge and critical for infants), and then decided to switch to Vicks rectal thermometer.
At first, we were hesitant to use as it seemed too invasive. But to our surprise she doesn't mind at all!!
It takes about 10 secs consistently and has very accurate reading.
We took her temp in a morning, which came out to be 99.7. Then went to a hospital a few hours later and their reading was 99.8.
With this thermometer you are inserting just a tip of it, and not like an inch or so like they do in a doctor's office.
It gives you a piece of mind knowing that it is not as much invasive.

As a first-time mom, the thought of sticking a thermometer up my newborn baby's behind made me absoultely cringe!!! So I bought the standard digital thermometer, and went through about three of them before I realized that no matter which brand you buy, they don't give accurate readings! He was too small for the ear thermometer, but I've heard that those aren't the best either.
The design of this thermometer is genius... the probe is just the right size to ensure that you don't harm your baby. I feel 100% comfortable using this thermometer, and what's even better is that it's more accurate than all the others I've tried. Not only that, it takes his temp in about 10 seconds (beceause who has time to wait longer than that when you've got a squirmy baby)?
I would recommend this thermometer to anyone who has anxiety about taking a rectal temp... heck, I'd recommend it anyway because it's the most accurate one I've tried!

I LOVE this thing. Lame... I know, but when it comes to fever's I literally sweat myself with panic. I am just an anxious person when it comes to my kids wellness, and I am a thermometer-a-holic. I have gone through old fashion one's, digital one's, I even have an expensive forehead scanner, and I will tell you they are just crap when it comes to accuracy in young children. I get a different temp every time with the scanner, and it got awsome reviews from so many! Anyways, I am not comfortable with the thought of "invasive" procedures for my kids, so rectal has always been out for me. I was so wrong, it is easy, simple and thank the heaven's... accurate! I don't know why I assumed that taking a rectal temp means it went far in, it doesn't it barely goes in, so it's no big deal. My daughter is 3 and it was the first time I have taken her temperature rectally and for the FIRST time, I trust the results. This is great. I cannot believe I am reviewing a rectal thermometer, but it is that good. Having many kids, I have struggled with best ways to take temperature. For the older kids, I have settled on the ear thermometer as "good enough", but it really doesn't give accurate results on a baby. Rectal is the way to go, but babies (especially newborns) are so delicate that it can be hard to tell when the thermometer is far enough inside without hurting the baby.
This thermometer is a "no brainer". It is shaped to be easy to put inside the rectum while the baby is on his/her back. The button is easy to push, the display is clear, and the probe tip cannot go too far inside. Temperature is taken quickly as well.
For the price, I would recommend this to all new parents. Just be sure to keep it clean and buy some water-based lubricant for it.

As the title says, it's cheap, accurate, and easy to use. We have one of those fancy $60 forehead thermometers that is all over the place in its readings and a bit tricky to use. It's fast and that really is the best argument for it. This little job, though, only takes about 20 seconds to use. Turn it on, smear on a pea-sized blob of KY Jelly, stick it in, and 9 seconds later you have a very accurate reading. The display is back-lit so it's easy to read, and the thing cleans up with a baby wipe. My wife was all reluctant to use it, preferring the forehead thermometer, but now she's see how simple and accurate it is and she is a convert. The probe is so small that it doesn't upset the baby at all. When your kid is sick you want a quick accurate temperature, and this gives it to you.
