Okay so I bought this thermometer and find it handy for the WHOLE family. By far the best investement I've ever made. Its very convenient, super quick, and accurate. The only I don't like about this particular brand is the fever alert feature when it detects a high fever. I have a drama queen daughter, and the feature lets her know "hey i have proof i'm sick, better kick it up a notch". I previously owned a braun and when I saw she had a temp I was able to play it off and tell her that she didn't have a temp but that i was giving her some tylenol "just in case". That doesn't work anymore. Other than that its awesome, highly recommended. Customer Review: My wife and I both read the directions and both tried multiple ways angles and depths of taking our temperatures.

I purchased this because I was tired of long waits to get temperatures in the mouth or under the arm. Reading the packaging made this thermometer seem the fastest and most dependable.
Although the readings were consistent and fast, they constantly fell short of accurate. My wife, myself, and our daughter all had readings of 93 degrees. My wife and I both read the directions and both tried multiple ways (angles and depths) of taking our temperatures. We cleaned out our ears, and we always got low temperatures.

Honeywell (V971N) One Second Ear ThermometerWhen you suspect a fever, it's often difficult to get a restless toddler to stay still long enough to take a basal temperature--and you can forget about taking a rectal temperature. This super-fast ear thermometer offers the best solution, providing accurate and instant 1-second results. The thermometer has a soft sensor tip that is gentle and safe on little ears, and comes with 22 sensor covers for the tip (more available separately) for comfortable and accurate readings. With the power on, the thermometer beeps when ready. Parents simply insert the tip into an ear and press the scan button. Within a 1-second interval, the thermometer's MultiScan technology reads infrared heat generated by the eardrum, and takes 12 readings. Those readings are instantly averaged and converted to an oral equivalent. The ear thermometer beeps once when the temperature has been recorded and is normal, and beeps several times in a row to indicate a fever over 99.5 degrees. The lighted display makes it easy to read results in a dark room. And, just in case you turned off the unit before getting the reading, the ear thermometer has a fever-tracking memory that recalls the last 12 temperatures taken, allowing you to monitor your child's health through the duration of an illness. The thermometer has a protective cap when not in use, and stands up for easy storage in a medicine cabinet. Also included is an applicator for the sensor covers and two AAA batteries.
