I had a $10 Vidal Sassoon Clipper which was plain painful to use, used to tangle my hair, wasn't sharp enough, used to make a mess and would take forever to cut hair. This Wahl is everything that Vidal Sassoon wasn't. I bought this after much research and almost to point of resigning myself to getting my hair cut by a stylist.
In short, the cutting surface is sharp and powerful, like the ones used in salons (I used to wonder how is it that the stylists clippers cut so effortlessly compared to mine) and in my case just 1 pass of this clipper was enough to cut it to the level I want. What used to take 1 hour to cut now takes only about 10 minutes, and I was able to do it on my own! It has many attachments and extras which may or may not useful but the clipper itself is a gem -- powerful and painless.

I've used Oyster and Andy's brand clippers in the past and they held up for a couple years each, but it's usually the attachments that break or constantly slip. They also feel a bit weak, making sounds that indicate that it's starting to jam and require more mindful clipping technique.
This set of clippers feel much more powerful. It seems to go through hair much easier. These can probably feel right at home at a military basic training camp where the clip through big piles of hair without jamming. I also feel like I need fewer passes to get an even cut. The attachments feel snug and the plastic seems to be a more flexible type rather than the stiff brittle kind which I think would hold up better and be better on hair in theory.
A definite improvement over my prior clippers in quality.

Was very pleased with this purchase.
Been cutting hair for over a year now, and my last set of cheap Ebay clippers went out. After reading many reviews on this product I decided to take the plunge.
The clippers are nice and heavy, the cutter is aligned perfectly and very sharp. Cuts like a hot knife through butter. The many assorted attachment combs are great. I especially like the ones for trimming/tapering around the ears. This whole set made my haircut even easier and more blended.
The included trimmer is nice. It's small and quiet and uses one AA battery. I used a rechargeable Ni-MH battery to power it with. Glad I did for the little trimmer sucked the life out of that one battery.
Overall it is one of the best investments I have made to date. Well worth the price!

This is my second Wahl set and I have to say I've been very pleased with the results and value. First, the clippers are strong and cut through hair with ease. I've tried some brands over the years that are not so powerful (and as a result the clippers pull your hair rather than cut it). So the Wahl was a pleasure to use. There's also a boatload of attachments included, so I am sure everyone will be happy with the tons of haircutting options they have.
Also, value-wise, this set cannot be beat when compared to the barber. At just over $20 dollars, this set is paid for after just a cut or two. While Wahl clippers last for years and years, even if you throw it in the trash after 2-3 uses, it's still a great deal. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Perfect for a clueless mom of two boys

I've never cut hair in my life but I have two boys, aged 2 and 3. Taking them to get their hair cut is an ordeal, plus costs me $25 a visit. I did some research and chose this pair of clippers thinking heck, it is worth a shot. Though I was nervous about making them look like cancer patients, it was easy and they look great. I just used the longest guard and went against the "grain" of the hair, like the Wahl website said. Actually, I think they look better than when I was paying someone else to do it with scissors. And the clipper set will have paid for itself the next time I cut their hair. Highly highly recommend. If you're wondering if you can do this at home--YES, you can. I couldn't be more pleased.
