Customer Review: 10 star gem Love this machine!
Summary: 5 Stars

Love my WaterPik WP-72 Professional Dental Water Jet and only wish I had purchased this machine earlier.

First thing I did when I got the package open was read the entire booklet on how to work the machine. This is a MUST because it helps show you how to avoid drenching yourself while using the machine. For the first few times until you get used to what level of power you want the stream of water, mouthwash etc, consider placing a wash clothe in the sink to prevent any liquid from splattering. Once you adjust the power level most splattering can be avoided.

Primed the machine as directed and even ran one full load of water in the reservoir thru as a test run, in the sink. Then I used water to water floss and then my Crest mouthwash in the small reservoir to finish up.

Love the adjustable power level on the side of the handheld unit that makes adjusting the stream so easy. The thing to remember which the booklet points out is you do not turn the machine on until you are over the sink, so you wont end up getting the counter etc wet.

The large reservoir also acts as the unites cover, which makes for a neat clean bath counter.

Also bought the WaterPik FLW-110 Power Whitening Flosser which makes this a great system for dental care.

Good dental health can also mean great overall health, so I take healthy teeth and gums seriously and see these WaterPik items as a very affordable preventative care tools.

Customer Review: First Impression
Summary: 5 Stars

I was really scared to get this because of all the bad reviews...but once I saw that there is really no such thing as a "good" irrigator, and the fact that I really, really need something to help me with my gums, I decided to go for it. Not to mention, the thing has a two year warranty, so it can't be THAT bad.

Simply make sure the reservoir is pushed down all the way so that the seal is closed to avoid leaks.

Yeah it is a little messy, and it will take practice to get all my teeth done properly without looking in the mirror (supposed to do it in the sink) and still it splashes some but hey... at the dentist's it splashes too, and they even have a little suction thing to use!

Oh and it is kinda noisy, but hey nobody ever complains about their vacuum cleaner or the toilet flushing...LOL.

The one thing I would change is that as soon as you turn it on, it starts pumping a bit of water...I wish there was an on/off switch on the handle. However...it does have a pause button, so it again will just take some practice figuring out when to turn the machine off, and when to pause, etc. Its not necessarily a fault with the machine, simply a matter of learning a new skill.

So far, my impression is the product is good, and that it just takes a little practice to manage it properly. I plan to come back and review it again after several months of use as far as how durable it is.

Customer Review: AWESOME PRODUCT!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I hesitated before purchasing this, just because of the unsatisfied comments others have made. But let me tell you, I now understand why they all made those comments and can say with conviction, THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT! I also experienced water leakage and no water pumping through. Both are simple fixes.

To prevent the water leaking, PROPERLY and FIRMLY place the reservior onto the unit. Doing so creates a seal and it wont leak. If it does, it wasnt placed on properly. Try it again, you will eventually get the hang of it. I only had 'leaks' the first couple days.

As for it not pumping any water when it is turned on, you just need to read the instructions. It says you need to PRIME it by removing the pic, placing the hose lower than the reservior, setting it to maximum, and turning it on until water runs through. This isnt a one time thing. You need to do this each night you use it; by doing so, it will work fine. If you dont, then water wont pump through until you PRIME it again. It only adds a few seconds to your routine, but nothing to be complaining to the company about.

The unit is a little noisy, but again, not enough to complain about, unless someone is trying to sleep.

It works great. I've had mine for about 6 months now, using it nightly, and other than getting oriented to a new product, I haven't had any problems with it.

Customer Review: Very pleased with this product
Summary: 5 Stars

Like many other reviews I have owned an older model for years and was very pleased with it's performance, but then the hose sprung a leak and I could not fix it, so I researched the new models for a replacement. I read a bunch of reviews for the WP-72 and was concerned that some people gave it low marks for reason it somehow gave out after a short period of time. I went ahead and ordered it and am very pleased with the unit and it's performance. One thing Water Pic does not tell you is that like on my older model, sometimes after you take the water container off and then put it back you need to prime the unit to get the water flowing again. This is simply done by placing your mouth around the end of the nossel with an air tight fit, turn on the unit, suck air from the nossel for 1-2 second and then "Wolla" it works again. Sorry to say there are are people who have never tried this and complain that the unit is somehow defective. If the motor goes out then that is a different issue, but I believe for the most part it is lack of priming the unit. Also ordering this unit from Amazon cost me $37.00 compared to a similar model from Wal Mart for $95.00 + tax.

Customer Review: The best thing invented since the toothbrush
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this waterpik a few days after I had my braces put on, and it is quite possibly the best dental contraption I've ever used. I will continue using this even after my braces are taken off. Yes, it is noisy and it shakes, but who cares? I consider myself to be very meticulous when it comes to dental hygiene, but even still, when I use the waterpik after I brush and floss, food and gunk comes out! I rinse with Listerine, I brush for 4 minutes on my Sonicare toothbrush (twice as long as the recommended time since I have braces), I floss, and then I Waterpik, and even then, debris comes out. This is a great investment for couples since the Professional model comes with two jetstream heads (pink and blue) and a few other attachments. And now whenever I eat, I'm always itching to rinse my mouth out with the waterpik afterwards. It's a world of difference!
