Customer Reviews of Waterpik Sensonic Professional ToothbrushCustomer Review: Sonic Waves and an Automatic Timer Make Brushing Even Less Onerous Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Waterpik has come a long way since my parents first bought a Dental Water Jet in the early 1970's, a jet-stream tool with a water tank that we were supposed to use after brushing. The company has long since expanded to electric toothbrushes that consolidate our mandatory dental tasks knowing full well that we are all passively resistant to the onerous task of brushing our teeth thoroughly. Personal neglect eventually catches up with us during the dreaded semi-annual dental appointment when a wagging finger usually accompanies a sermon on the necessities of flossing and consistent brushing. With all that in mind, the Sensonic Professional really makes it even easier to maintain the appropriate standards for the daily care of your teeth.
The concept behind this machine is what the manufacturer calls a sonic toothbrush. Apparently, the power of the vibrations obliterates plaque and other debris more effectively than applying more pressure with a brush directly. After using it for two weeks, I definitely feel I am exerting less pressure than my previous electric toothbrush, and my gums do not feel nearly as sore. Yet, for the technical ingenuity behind this enhancement, I have to admit the best feature of the Sensonic Professional is the built-in timer, which automatically turns off the brush after two minutes. It even provides an automatic pause at thirty-second intervals to signal when you should be complete with each quadrant in your mouth.
The non-think aspect already complements the quality I have come to expect from Waterpik. First, the bristles on the toothbrushes are relatively soft. Second, there is a three-speed option similar to the way a kitchen blender works - "Low" for basic cleaning and gum massage, "High" for targeted plaque removal, and a toggling feature that lets you switch between the speeds with minimal effort. And finally, there are three color-coded brush-heads, one specifically for inter-dental brushing. All in all, it feels like Waterpik has really listened to their customers and made an electric toothbrush that stops just short of brushing your teeth for you.
Customer Review: The Others NOW have competition Summary: 5 Stars

Remember to read the instructions on this toothbrush and make sure the unitial "charge" is OVER 16 hours for maximum life and power.
Electronic toothbrushes I have always found to be subjective.
Some prefer the smaller round head of Braun, others the Philips Sonicare more traditional shape, but up until now (IMHO) I have not found anything to rival these two "big name" brands.
I have bought and used the cheaper battery operated brands which have NEVER compared simply on lack of power, but this new Waterpik is a "powerhouse" toothbrush, and better value than BOTH of the others.
PROS
Ergonically bigger shaped handle for easier grip (especially for those with arthritis or who have difficulty holding the product)
2 Minute built in timer, with "pause" every 30 seconds
Two speeds for deep or soft cleaning
Two brush heads, soft and firm.
One interdental tapered brush for pre floss cleaning.
Low Price
CONS
Bulky base charger and holder compared to other two main designs
No prices or availability YET on replacement heads.
It's easy to say that both of the other main brands have a 2 minute timer (I know some models have a digital display timer? although I don't know who looks at the handle mid brushing?)- which incidentally is probably the best thing about ANY electronic toothbrush. Most dentists will tell you that you that people do not brush for long enough with a manual brush. What I liked about the Waterpik is that there is a brief pause every 30 seconds to let you know your progress (for example if you wanted to do the top and bottom teeth for equal amounts). It also makes the two minutes seem quicker (it can seem to last an age with my Philips).
With twice daily use it gives a fresh clean feeling - the additional plaque head for between the teeth (I use this for only about 30 secs) makes flossing a breeze afterwards, and overall I really recommend this product.
At currently under $70 it is also much cheaper than some other high end models of the other two. Top marks Waterpik!
Customer Review: Does half the work for you Summary: 5 Stars

I'm sure that most people look at cleaning their teeth as a chore. And it most definitely is one, a chore that we do on a daily basis (at least once a day). But with this electric toothbrush it almost makes me want to brush my teeth.
The package comes with one Waterpik Sensonic Professional Toothbrush handle, one Charger Base with Recharge Indicator Light, two Advanced Brush Heads, one Interdental Brush Head. Takes a moment to set up and instructions say charge for 16 hours before using it for the first time. I got mine yesterday and this morning used it. The toothbrush handle has a round button you press to turn it on, press it again and it goes to a 'higher/quicker' setting and press it a third time to turn it off. The first time you press the toothbrush on you get a gentle speed for your gum areas, hit it again you get a fast speed for your teeth and to help get rid of plague, etc. The last brush, the 'interdental brush head' is made for 'trouble spots' in between teeth. Your job here is to simply move the brush around and it does the work for you. It was a nice experience and I can honestly say my mouth felt 'clean' after I was done.
Is it worth the money? Perhaps. You can get replacement brushes for $11 from amazon when they come out later next month which might put some people off, but you can also use this one toothbrush for an entire household of 3, just pop off one brush head and put another on (you can tell the difference between them by the rings on the bottom, they are different colors). Battery on the toothbrush is rechargeable so you don't have to buy those cheaper brushes which need a batter change every once in a while. So, I'm sure some will find this a good deal while others can't imagine spending so much for something that eventually you have to spend even more on. Bottom line, I'd recommend it for what it is; you get a nice brush which will undoubtedly help in your brushing and keeping your teeth clean and healthy, is that worth a few extra dollars to you?

When you first get the toothbrush, it will need to charge for 16 hours. There's an indicator light to let you know when it has fully charged. After that, it maintains its charge for a week. I charged mine off and on and never had a problem. It comes with two standard heads and an interdental brush head. Since the standard heads come with color bands at the bottom, this toothbrush could be shared by more than one person. The interdental head is pointy and looks like it would be painful but did not cause me any discomfort. The bristles are actually very soft. The toothbrush is wall mountable, but I chose not to do so since the heads don't come with a cover.
I found this toothbrush surprisingly easy to hold. I've had troubles in the past wielding electric toothbrushes with smaller awkward handles. The toothbrush has 2 speeds. It works for 30 seconds and then pauses so to signal that it's time to brush another zone of your mouth. After 2 minutes it shuts off. This probably helps me save time. At first use, I found the first speed to be too slow and the second speed to be too quick and messy. I dropped it in the sink once (totally my fault due to an injury). This caused the metal bar to which you attach the toothbrush head to bend. Since then, the toothbrush actually slowed down to a comfortable speed. This happened after about the third day of use and the toothbrush is still working well. I still feel like I've just had a professional cleaning after each use. My teeth are whiter.
I've tried several of the cheaper electric toothbrushes and while they are better than manual, this is still a step above that. My teeth have never felt cleaner.
The only improvements I could suggest for this product would be to create covers for the toothbrush heads. Of course, I could buy my own, but even the cheap electric toothbrushes come with a plastic cap which covers the bristles.
Customer Review: A great price for the best toothbrush made! Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've been a Sonicare user for a couple of years. I've also tried the Oral-B Sonic recently after reading it was better than the Sonicare. Now, enter the Waterpik Sensonic Professional Toothbrush. I've used the waterpik dental water pik for many years but had not even given thought as to why Waterpik was not putting out a rechargeable toothbrush. I was very excited to try this out, to say the least as I'm also a tooth and gum health fanatic.
My first impressions were that Waterpik is really trying to put a quality product out there. Their price point was lower than their competitors, yet they were offering more value. The interdental brush head is excellent for cleaning wisdom teeth and in between braces. What a cool concept! Like the Oral-B and the Sonicare, there is a 2 minute timer which is great for children and teenagers to ensure they are brushing long enough. It also has 2 different speeds, so your comfort and brushing needs are very individualized. At first I was using it and felt it was softer and gentler than the other brands, then I turned it up and realized this toothbrush is extremely good at deep cleaning. In my experience, the rechargeable sonic toothbrushes are great at keeping my teeth extra white and removing plaque and tartar. I am an avid tea and coffee drinker so this is very important. My gums also felt tighter.
The two year warranty is very generous, and the replacement brush heads currently run $9.99 per 2 pack at the waterpik web site, which is less than their competitors. Overall, this is a better product, at a better price, put out by a company truly dedicated to good oral health. I would recommend this toothbrush to anyone, especially coffee/tea drinkers, diabetics, and people with braces.
