Customer Review: Medslant: The Answer to Not raising your bed

I was skeptical of this product but my dr. had told me that with a hiatal hernia and very bad reflux I had to do something. We tried every way to raise our bed up but it was just not good for the frame that we had. It took me only 2 nights to get the medslant positioned the way I wanted it. You can sleep on either side or your back and it works great. It's not a cure for acid reflux or GERD but it allows you to sleep while you have this problem. My husband loves it too because he said it has cured my snoring. Prior to having this problem I had always thought of people with it as being overweight and eating a lot at night. I am not overweight and I am dont eat at night. Thank you to Medslant for making such a great product. I actually was a bit leary since the one man said his smelled bad. When we purchased a memory foam mattress and pillows they had an odor for over a month but the wedge pillow had no odor. I have an incredibly sensitive nose and I smelled nothing so dont worry about that. I think the other guy just got a bad product and as he said they wanted to replace it.

When I was diagnosed with GERD, my doctor gave me several recommendations, including lifting the head of my bed (or lowering the feet...). Rather than monkeying with the furniture, I opted to try out a slanted pillow. Research led me to pick out the MedSlant. In reading about it, though, I also discovered that it is useful for people with sleep apnea, something my husband suffers from. So I decided to make him the guinea pig! I gave him the first pillow I ordered. For the first time in our ten years of marriage, neither of us was woken up that night by his snoring (yes, he used to startle himself awake with his own snores!). He didn't sleep longer, but he woke up feeling far more refreshed than he had in months. He actually slept through the night, not being roused by the apnea every few minutes. We were both sold. I ordered a second one for myself and got to experience a night without burning in my esophagus. I had my first serious episode of acid reflux a few weeks ago, and although I tried PPI therapy as well as strict diet and lifestyle modifications, I was still experiencing some reflux symptoms at night. The only thing that I didn't try was elevating my upper body at night, mostly because I didn't want to make my husband sleep on a slanted bed. I decided to give this pillow a try, and it's made a huge difference! I've been symptom-free ever since I began sleeping on the pillow, and I've been able to reduce the amount of antacid medication that I take. To me, it's not as comfortable as sleeping without any elevation, but it's certainly comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. I don't have a constant acid reflux problem, but I needed help for when I ate a meal late in the evening. The Medslant works well for me. I sleep with my regular pillow on top. I have no problem with sliding down. I followed the advice in the reviews and got the allergy cover version and bought a spare pillow case. The pillow case is very practical and easy to fit on. There was only a slight smell of the plastic foam Medslant is made of, not enough to bother me, especially with my own pillow on top. I'm usually sensitive to smells, but this was hardly noticeable. I find the extra bit of height makes it easier to read in bed, and I just need an extra bed pillow. I felt it was definitely worth the money, and for me that includes overseas shipping to New Zealand.Customer Review: the ultimate in a comfortable pillow

I found out that I didn't have GERD because I bought this pillow. I had been having strange and painful "attacks" in my chest, particularly in the morning when I would walk the dog. My doctor thought it was due to acid reflux, built up the night before. My cardiologist though they were anxiety attacks. Then, I ordered the wedge pillow. I slept soundly the first night, and I had marvelous energy all the next day. It was not because I needed to sleep sitting up, but the sound sleep was the result of sleeping alone, and because the pillow was so comfortable. My allergies were also at rest, because of this pillow. It is such good quality, and I would recommend buying the cover.
