I have a hiatal hernia that causes acid reflux. I had been sleeping with a bunch of blankets between my mattress and box spring, which wasn't very effective. I ordered this wedge pillow based on the positive reviews and I'm pleased with it. I've been sleeping on it for about two weeks now and I find that I'm not waking up as much during the night now and I'm feeling well-rested in the morning.
I'm a side sleeper, so it was a little awkward getting used to this pillow. THe first night I tried it with my bed pillow and the two together were too high. My neck and shoulders were sore the next day. The next night, I tried just the wedge pillow, but that was too flat for me. The third night I used a smaller pillow with the wedge and that combination seems to work for me. I've been waking up without an irritated throat for the first time in years!
I do tend to slide down a little during the course of the night. Even when I'm further down on the pillow, I'm still elevated more than I was with the blankets under my mattress, so I'm happy! The MedSlant wedge pillow has definitely helped to improve my acid reflux.

I bought this pillow because my sister said she bought the same one off Amazon but she lives in London. When I first got the pillow it seemed like cheap foam so I was disappointed and wanted to send it back. I then realized I couldn't send it back because it was a pillow. I did finally get connected to someone at Medslant who was very thorough in explaining the foam and its density and quality. So, I tried the pillow for a few nights and found it to be very comfortable. It did seem to help me with my reflux. I would probably buy this product again if the price was lower. I feel this pillow is over priced and would expect it to be around $59.99. The outer cover is necessary for comfort and washability. I was happy they sent me another cover to rotate for washing.Customer Review: Helpful but a little soft

I've been sleeping on this wedge for 3 months now after having been diagnosed with a small hiatal hernia. I'm a large fellow at 6'3" and 270+ pounds and would have preferred a somewhat stiffer wedge. But I consider this a reasonable compromise to spending 1000s on an adjustable bed. It is large enough that I don't slide off it while tossing and turning occasionally at night. The packaging that comes with it will double as a travel bag to carry it on trips. The pillow folds onto itself to make a nice square object about the size of a small suitcase so it's not awkward to lug around when you travel - yet the wedge itself when unfolded is large enough to accommodate my large frame. Overall a good product that has so far been effective for me.
