I was frustrated by the poor instructions on this prouct -- which were inside the package on on the bottle of treatment oil. They were poorly written and required a shower cap (which I didn't have, so I made do with a ziploc bag) and vinegar, which luckily I did have, but I would have appreciated knowing that I needed it while I was still at the store. This product requires two treatments, although I decided that the two ounce bottle I purchased was probably adequate for two treatments. My five-year old has medium-long hair and one ounce was enough. I used an infant's dosing syringe to dispense the oil onto her scalp, and rubbed it in thoroughly wearing vinyl gloves. The instructions recommend leaving the oil on for 2-4 hours. After nearly three hours we rinsed it out with a cup of vinegar and spent another hour pulling the nit comb through her hair. The oil did a good job of loosening the nits and of stunning or suffocating the lice -- only 2 out of about a dozen were still moving actively, and they were still easy to get with fingers or comb. Unfortunately, after two shampoos, her hair is still very oily and heavy. And we still have to do a second treatment in 5 days.
Pros: Seems effective so far, non-toxic, smell is tolerable, metal nit comb works great.
Cons: Instructions poorly written and incomplete, two treatments necessary (though that is common), leaves an oily residue on hair.
