Customer Reviews of Wet-Stop3 Bedwetting Alarm System (Green)

Customer Review: Never thought it would work, but it did!
Summary: 5 Stars

My six year old very much wanted to be able to go to bed in underwear but he would wet through the Overnight frequently, and wet it almost every night. We tried this alarm and it worked wonders, but it also took about five weeks. I don't recommend it for a child much younger than six because it is a pain to wear and use. It takes real commitment. The first two weeks the alarm was going off 1-3 times a night. Many times he would fully wet himself before waking. He wore underwear under the Overnights so that clean up wouldn't be too bad (highly recommend!). Week 3 he was still having the alarm go off almost every night but he would only pee a drop and then go the rest in the toilet. This was happening from weeks 3-4. At this point he was just in underwear since it was only a drop. Then one night it didn't go off. I made him wait seven nights in a row without it going off and then we stopped using it (week 5). He has been dry now for two weeks without any accidents. He can even take a sippy cup to bed and not have an accident. His body has learned. If you do use it, hang in there. We had plenty of days where we didn't think we were making any progress. My son also was getting tired of getting up all the time but we made a deal that we would give it two months to work before throwing in the towel. Luckily it didn't take that long, but it did take five weeks. The alarm is very sensitive and sometimes would go off when my son was putting it on because his hands would be sweaty. The alarm is large but the price was better for something we wouldn't be using very long. I thought it was well made and we didn't have any malfunction issues. My son did sleep through the alarm a few times but I think would happen with the more expensive models too. I highly recommend this!

Customer Review: It's Working
Summary: 5 Stars

My 5 1/2 year old daughter has been using the alarm for a little over 3 weeks now. She is a VERY deep sleeper so she does not wake up when she needs to to potty and wets the bed EVERY night, and usually more than once a night. I had my doubts if the alarm would work with her. After many, many months of have NO dry nights at all, she has had 9 completely dry nights in the past 12 days and there were several nights in the past 3 weeks where she wet just a little but stopped herself and got up and finished in the potty, which is what she is supposed to do.

In the first 10 days there were nights that seemed unsuccessful because a few times she wouldn't even get up when the alarm went off. She just lay there for about an hour and I just let the alarm keep going off until she finally got up. Other nights she did what she was supposed to do, which was to get up and turn off the alarm and change her PJ's, etc. But during that time, I think the alarm was still training her body to wake up when she had the urge to pee because after about 10 days, she just started having dry nights. It has been really amazing. We are still in the process of it but it is working. I think they are supposed to wear the alarm until they are dry for 30 days so we have a ways to go yet but I am very pleased with it. The alarm comes with a chart and stickers. She loves to be able to put a gold star on her chart so that has helped as well.

Please be careful about the cord. It is very long and if the alarm comes undone from their PJ's, the cord can get wrapped around their necks. This happened one night with my daughter so now I am sure to pin the alarm on instead of just using the magnet.

Customer Review: Works wonderfully
Summary: 5 Stars

We purchased this for our five year old daughter who had yet to have a dry night. She's been wearing pull-ups for approx. two and a half years but was desperate to wear underwear to bed. The advice of friends, family, and doctors was that she would outgrow bedwetting when her body was ready. However it has been one week and this alarm has been fantastic for her. The first night she only wet a small amount twice before the alarm sounded, woke her and me, and she finished urinating in the toilet--no change of sheets needed. Thinking that perhaps she did not really need the alarm, the next night we tried going without it. She thoroughly wet the bed twice that night, requiring a major clean up each time. We reinstated the alarm the following night. The next two nights she again wet a tiny amount before the alarm woke her and she went to the toilet to finish. Now I'm so pleased to say that she has been completely dry the past four nights (10+ hours!). We are so proud of her but more importantly she is proud of herself. This has given her self-esteem a huge boost. This alarm has been a wonderful tool to help her reach this milestone. The combination of the gentle vibration and beeping sound (which is loud enough to rouse most but not terribly startling) is great. I agree with others that removing the clamp can be tricky, even for an adult, but it is a small issue. Overall we have been VERY pleased with this product and I will recommend it without hesitation.

Customer Review: Great price, works well.

We started using the Wet-Stop3 with our son when he turned 5 yrs, and it has worked great.Up to this point from age 2-5 he never once had a dry diaper or pull up.
We checked many web sites and blogs about bed wetting and alarms. Some suggest waiting till age 6 may be better to assure maturity of the urinary sphincter muscles, however this is up to your discretion. Our 5yr old was begging not to wear pull ups and completely understood the concept of the alarm when we showed him the pictures on the computer and explained the process.
The Wet-Stop3 was less expensive than other models, and takes regular triple A batteries. Apparently other brands use watch batteries that burn out quickly and cost more.
The sensor clip and magnet attatchment for alarm box are easy to use. Our son learned quickly how to perform the 2 step process to stop the alarm. Even though he can do it, we still get up when the alarm goes off. He's a very deep sleeper, and still needs a little direction to the toilet.
The 1st week can be a little rough w/ getting up several times a night, but this quickly cut down the 2nd/3rd week. By 4-5wks just 1x/night. 6-7wks he finally had dry nights scattered in. It's great to see how excited and proud they are to finally be dry.
We still use the alarm every night, but again our son is a little young, so it may take longer than an older child. Overall I think this is a great product. Great price, great concept, very pleased.

Customer Review: This has worked wonders!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Wet Stop has worked wonders for my 9 year old son. He was wetting the bed every single night, sometimes wetting through his pull up to the sheets. He was was excited at first to try this because he was tired of wetting the bed. After a couple of days I do think that the novelty wears off and they don't want to wear it because it does tug at their clothes and sometimes is in the way. But I think that if your child is old enough they will understand that the goal is to be dry at night. That is what kept my son wearing it, he liked getting the gold and silver stars that are included to track their progress. I will say that he wore a pair of underwear with the alarm clipped to them and then a pull up over the top. It helped so that I was not washing sheets every day. Did he have set backs? Of course, nothing is without problems. He had a few nights at first where it did not wake him up, but after those few nights he started to respond to the sound. He was also starting to get up before the alarm even went off. I don't know how it does it but it makes them aware of the feeling of having to go to the bathroom. I had my son where the alarm for about 3 weeks and then went without it, if he woke up wet, which only happened twice the first week that he was off the alarm, he wore it for a couple of days. But now he has not worn it for at least two months and he has been dry every night! It is great! I totally think that the price was worth it!
