I know first hand just how great this Fragrance Free Woolite Dry Cleaner's Secret performs. I worked in a Dry Cleaning Plant as the Inspector for over half a decade. When it comes to dry cleaning secrets- liquid Woolite was always part of our every day cleaning products. For people who do not know about dry cleaning products- most everything gets cleaned in perchloroethylene- more commonly called perc. There is no water involved in the dry cleaning process, only the chemical solution perc. However, most people do not know that your dry cleanable clothing has water in it before it even goes into the machines- your sweat!
Many pieces of your dry cleanable clothing can be cleaned with a liquid Woolite wipedown! With a tablespoon of liquid woolite in a bucket of cool/warm water, you can use an old washcloth of the same or lighter color to wipedown your garments. This wipedown works great on winter coats, wool items, sweaters, medium weight and heavier fabrics- most everything that is NOT FRAGILE, COLORFAST OR SHRINKABLE! You just use a damp squeezed out wash cloth that's been dipped in the Woolite and water to wipe down the garment inside then outside. Repeat the wipedown with plain clean cool/warm water. Then hang it dry on a plastic hanger overnight, smoothing out any wrinkles. The next day, if needed- you lightly press- steam is better if you have it in a hand steamer or iron. Never put creases in sleeves! A big dry cleaning secret, is creases are never used- unless in creased pants or pleats. For perfect uncreased sleeves- roll up a bath towel and insert it in the sleeve tightly- then lightly press or steam on medium heat. Liquid Woolite is also how large comforters that were not colorfast, were cleaned at our plant. The secret on drying perfection is using two or three new tennis balls in the dryer- it keeps the comforter's shape PERFECT! For anything that needs work on bad stains- take it to the dry cleaners, as many times even they can't remove some stains!
Since the Woolite product is something I am all too familiar with in professional cleaning, I was expecting good results from these new Woolite Fragrance Free dry cleaning cloths. The results I got from my testing on various fabrics were great! I tested acetates, cashmere, cotton, linen, ramie, rayon, silk, synthetics and wool items. I must say, for cottons and wool items, the liquid Woolite wipedown works much better than the cleaning cloths! However, you can never touch water on most acetates, cashmere, rayons and silks- and these garments came out very fresh and clean with these Woolite dryer cleaning sheets and they are so simple to use!
You basically pre spot any stains (if you see any)and blot with a clean white paper towel. Always combine the same color and type of fabrics when dry cleaning. You get great results when throwing in 1 to 4 garments at a time with each cleaning cloth, as the garments need room to be heat cleaned and to keep from wrinkling in your dryer (No dryer bag is needed- making less wrinkling!). You dry for about 20 minutes on medium heat. You then hang the garments on plastic hangers and shape. Touch up with medium heat or steam if needed and throw the cleaning cloth out. NEVER clean furs, leathers, suedes or velvets with any product! Both water and chemical cleaning will destroy these! Stains are tough to remove even for professional dry cleaners- so don't be upset if a stain doesn't come out! Some stains don't show up until heat hits them like hairspray and they can never be removed! Never use hairspray when you are fully dressed as it will become a permanent part of the fabric! You won't see hairspray stains until after heat has touched the garment! You'll know what I'm speaking of, if you've ever taken in a garment to your dry cleaners and got it back with stains you never knew were there- it's the magic of hairspray chemicals!
What I love best about Woolite- both liquid and these fragrance free dry cleaning cloths- is they clean well with NO ODORS that clash with your perfumes or deodorants! When it comes to an expensive business suit or evening wear, I leave that to the professionals, but for so many every day garments like winter coats, blouses, blazers, dresses, knits, skirts, slacks, ties, scarves, vests, blankets and comforters- you can save a fortune by doing it yourself with Woolite in both liquid and dry cleaning cloths! After removing your garments from the dryer, if you ever get lint on your garments, it takes a minute to remove with a rubber glove on your hand!
Another tip for making your clothing look professional when doing it yourself, is for pressing ties- use 2 wood dowel rods inserted in the sides of the tie and press- what a great rounded edged tie you'll have without those awful creases making it as flat as cardboard! One last thing I'll leave you with, that the directions do not tell you about the dry cleaning cloths. I always take a warm water dampened, squeezed out wash cloth or sponge and wipe out both the dryer drum and lint screen after using any dryer cloth or sheet. People are not aware that the chemicals left behind in your dryer from even dryer sheets can cause dryer fires.
