Customer Review: ZOIC - perfect for my post-gastric bypass diet!

My husband and I both had gastric surgery in January 2009. (I had gastric bypass and he had LapBand surgery.) Another friend who had had gastric bypass surgery about 9 months before we did recommended ZOIC. After trying just about every brand of Ready-to-drink and powdered protein supplements, we found that ZOIC was the hands-down best in terms of flavor and protein content. We each drink at least 2 Zoic every day and have it shipped to our destination when we are visiting family or friends out of state. We even took it with us in a suit case on our recent Caribbean cruise. That's how important it is to our new nutrition regimin.
Zoic has just reformulated it's product. It now contains 15 grams of protein instead of the previous 21 grams. In my opinion, the flavor is not as good as the original product. I've written to the manufacturer & hope they will make the original formulation available as an alternative.
Even with the changes, ZOIC is still the best protein supplement drink out there in terms of taste and nutrition. My husband and I are definitely ZOIC fans.
With our surgery and our use of ZOIC, I have lost 120 lbs and my husband has lost 75 lbs. We feel great, look great, and are celebrating our new gift of a healthy life!

I tried the "Zoic Nutrition Drink" as a replacement to Slim-Fast Low-Carb Ready To Drink, Vanilla Cream, 11-Ounce Cans in 4-Count Boxes (Pack of 6) for my after workout breakfast. The Slim-Fast has 20g of Protein and Zoic has 21g, but the Zoic is roughly 30 cents cheaper a can (significant over a couple months). Here are my general observations:
* This is not a "Shake", so it less thick and slighlty less filling
* Provides a lot of vitamins (mostly the same or better than Slim-Fast)
* Taste has a very slight after-taste, but slightly better than the ZOIC Nutrition Drink, Belgian Chocolate (Pack of 24) (which I also like)
* Sweetened with "Splenda", which I like a lot
* Only 2 net carbs
The Zoic is not as filling as a Slim-Fast, but is a good Protein drink at a less expensive cost. Recommended!

I've been using Zoic for about 30 days now and it is a great recovery drink after my hard work-outs. I'm not looking to build a ton of muscle, but I do know getting good protien to the muscles quickly after a workout is essential, not only to maintain but also to avoid any damage. I usually drink the entire shake in about 5 minutes and it seems to work better than most others I've tried (could be the lack of "sugar rush" I like). It quenches my thirst. I think it has a great taste, too, especially compared to other stuff on the market. The only issue I have is that I seem to be hungry after about 45 minutes of taking it. But I'm not using it as a meal/snack replacement. In fact I'm usually eating dinner about the time I get hungry so it doesn't matter. I strictly use it as a recovery drink after my 30-45 minute lifting sessions and it works great!! I'd highly recommend you at least give it a try for a few days and see for yourself.Customer Review: Delicious, Nutritious

Zoic is a tasty, healthful addition to most any diet. I have compared it to every major brand and cannot find a better formula. A+++.
I add some Zoic to my whole grain oatmeal every morning (instead of milk) and drink the rest. I further flavor the mix with a little sugarless maple syrup. In this way I add 15 grams of protein and 26 vitamins and minerals to my otherwise bland but fiber-filled breakfast. I find that this mix satisfies my hunger while helping control blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Lately, I have added a tablespoon of coconut oil (paste) to this cereal mix. Not only does it add more flavor but I was surprised to learn that coconut oil also has additional beneficial effects on cholesterol, blood sugar and also is helpful in weight loss. Also, This breakfast does wonders for regularity.

As a gastric bypass surgery patient, I'm very impressed and pleased with the introduction of this product. It's important for gastric bypass surgery patients to consume 50-60 grams of protein every day (plus supplemental vitamins) to ensure proper nutrition, and Zoic is a perfect way to start every morning to get in an instant 21 grams of protein plus extra needed vitamins. I personally like both flavors, but to me it tastes better by adding in 2 packets of sucralose (Splenda) and stir it in prior to drinking. It tasted like it needed to be a bit sweeter. I really like the Belgian Chocolate and like the French Vanilla as a change of pace. I buy it by the case, and the Amazon price will be tough to beat. I'm going to sign up for the monthly auto-ship plan to save even more money. I'll need to get 2 cases/month. Some days I'll have 2 cans. Excellent product - highly recommended!!!
