I've been using the Rotadent Classic electric toothbrush for 3 wks now and I am impressed. I'd purchased the set from my dentist for $120 and registered online for the one year warranty coverage. The set came with 3 brushes instead of 4 as shown, a flat & flimsy tongue scraper, a cheap looking stand, a few tiny colored stickers to place on brush heads if sharing unit with family members, & a box of plastic toothpicks.
I'd been using the Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush for about a 18 months prior to purchasing the Rotodent. It did an awesome job at cleaning my teeth and massaging my gums, but the Sonicare feels harsh now as compared to the incredibly gentle bristles of the Rotodent brush. My main reason for switching brands? Some electric toothbrushes may scratch crownwork or teeth and the bristles of the Rotodent seem to be working much better than other brands I've tried. After spending a ton of $ on crowns, I'd quickly realized what a waste it would be if they were damaged at a quicker rate by the rough fibers of other brush heads. This is the 1st electric toothbrush I've used that has become a refreshing & relaxing experience. The bristles massage the teeth & gums like no other AND you can use it two or even three times a day as opposed to other models harsh effects on the gums if used too frequently. THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS USING GEL TOOTHPASTE IN ORDER TO PROLONG THE BRUSH HEAD LIFE.
Another bonus: the motor is exremely quiet too. It seemed strange initially because the motor doesn't seem to vibrate at a pace like other models, but the results are identical to the Philips Sonicare when using the Rotodent. My teeth actually feel smoother after using the Rotodent. Although quite pricey for a toothbrush, I feel this product is well worth the investment. Hope it lasts more than a year! ***My only concern for others when buying this product: the Rotodent doesn't seem to hold a charge for more than a few days and if the battery goes, you have to break into the handle to replace the battery - a bit of a hassle.
