Customer Reviews of Zyrtec Allergy Tablets 45 ct (10 mg)

Customer Review: Who doesn't want to save money?... Zyrtec works, and this is a great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm highly allergic to dust mites, pet dander and insect bites -- and I have some seasonal allergies, too. Claritin (loratine) worked for me for about 5 years, but moving to Florida exposed me to year-round blasts of all the things that made me weepy, gave me hives and initiated my sinus infections.

12 years ago, my physician switched me to daily Zyrtec (Cetirizine hydrochloride (pronounced /s''t'r'zi¢°n/), an antihistamine), and I've never looked back. I want to make sure that readers know that I don't rely only on Zyrtec; I'm a faithful user of a HEPA air purifier in my home, and, when I have a pet, I select the "non-allergenic" breeds. I don't know whether my long use has insured that Zyrtec doesn't make me drowsy or lethargic, but I do know that my incidence of sinus infection has dropped to less that one a year, and I'm comfortable even on the muggiest days in Florida.

I'm able to take Zyrtec in the morning, and, last year, the drug went to OTC format, which has really helped reduce the costs for me (under prescription format, with my health insurance, the cheapest I could obtain it was $100 for three months).

This 45 day dosage (10mg) is available in drugstores, and there are commonly sales or coupons. Still and all, the cheapest you can usually find it at retail is for $25 for this dosage, in my area of the country. There is a generic available now, and I've seen it at a big-box store, which will help cut the costs, however,
it is hard to believe that anyone will be able to beat Amazon's price; $15.95 at the date of my writing (the 75 tablet pack for $28.54 is a little more costly); I qualify for Amazon Prime, so shipping is free.

I'm looking forward to saving a lot of money on a allergy product that really helps me this year. I know that Zyrtec doesn't work for everyone, but if it works for you, this is a great buy!

Customer Review: My Best Bet vs Allergies
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had killer allergies for three days, the one where you can barely breath nor sleep and your nose is so sore that not even the best tissues will stop it from hurting. So after rummaging through some drawers I miraculously found a stash of Zyrtec that survived 4 extremely allergic women. I just took it and in 10 minutes the medicine is starting to give much needed relief to my sinuses. My nose isn't cleared up but at least I am starting to feel relaxed, far less irritated and a bit drowsy.

On the topic of drowsiness, it is my personal experience it only "makes me" drowsy when I already am. I have taken it when my allergies just started as well as when I've had it for days. Almost always in the latter case I am already tired and irritated but don't know nor care. Such trivial sensations honestly take a back seat when the irritation and complications from the allergens are so severe, I sometimes wish I didn't have a nose.

Also, in the case of what looks to be "tolerance" to zyrtec is actually a reaction to another allergens zyrtec does not treat. Because I am one of those people used to an allergic reaction of some kind, I end up not medicating for it and doing just fine with only zyrtec.

To be perfectly honest, there is no bullet proof system for the severely allergic. Neither Zyrtec nor any other allergy medicine will ever stop your sinuses from its mission to drive you clinically insane. In spite of this, it remains the number one allergy medication of choice in our household, and therefore the most susceptible to run out. If it wasn't for the price we'd have an ample stockpile for months and some extra for those inevitable emergencies.

Customer Review: all right by me !!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Zyrtec 10 mg tablets are truly a godsend! I suffer from allergies almost year round; and when I take a Zyrtec pill things calm down pretty quickly. I am soon able to breathe through my nose and my eyes aren't so irritated. In addition, Zyrtec is absolutely essential for me; I have a cat but because I am still mildly allergic to the cat's pet dander and fur I use these Zyrtec pills to alleviate my symptoms from playing with and cuddling with the cat.

The tablets work for just about twenty-four hours just like the makers advertise it to work; but if things aren't quite OK even with the Zyrtec I sometimes pop another--with my doctor's "OK," that is. This drug does not make me drowsy the way other allergy medicines can; and I really like that.

Zyrtec is also supposed to stop the itching that comes with hives; but I can't comment on that because I have not needed to take this for hives.

Of course, follow the directions on the bottle very carefully; and don't take more than the recommended dose unless you get the "OK" from your doctor the way I did. If you have any questions or concerns about this product ask your doctor first before taking this medicine. In addition, use these tablets before their expiration date.

Overall Zyrtec tablets really help immeasurably when I need to fight allergy symptoms from pet fur and dander, dust, or pollen. I highly recommend this product!

Customer Review: Simply essential for me to function--the best antihistamine I've used in the last 20+ years
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had multiple killer allergies since I was a kid. I was the one in elementary school with a humongous wad of tissue that would be used up before school's end, and then I'd have to use toilet paper on my runny nose.

When better antihistamines came out when I was older, I was trying them all--hismanal (remember that one?), Claritin, Allegra. But Zyrtec is the most effective one of them all. While I'll still have a reaction if I get a big exposure to a major allergen (say dust or cats), this allows me to function.

I've tested it over the years by going a few days without and, inevitably, as it leaves my system, my eyes will itch, my throat will get scratchy, my nose will run. I run right back to it.

This now OTC drug has been a lifesaver for this allergy sufferer. Until a cure is found, I need this and singulair and inhaled steroids, even after going through the injection treatments twice--once as a teen, one in my late thirties. I am not made drowsy by it, either.

I keep the hope of a cure, but I keep my medicine cabinet stocked with Zyrtec along with my RX meds.

Customer Review: Outstanding if it doesn't make you drowsy
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used Zyrtec for years. It's been extremely effective in countering my seasonal allergies. Unfortunately I'm probably among the small percentage of people who are made drowsy by Zyrtec. A dose Zyrtec makes me drowsy and feel lethargic for the duration of the dose. In the last few years I have relied on the Rhinocort Turbo Inhaler. I've found the Rhinocort to be even more effective than Zyrtec without the drowsiness. I still keep a supply of Zyrtec for those instances when I don't have the inhaler. The Zyrtec pills are much more convenient. I also find that the drowsiness/lethargy that accompanies my taking Zyrtec is not bad if I'm doing something physical (i.e. exercise, walking, etc.). However if I have to sit down at my desk or try to relax in front of the TV I find myself more susceptible to dozing off after taking Zyrtec. I give Zyrtec 5 stars for it's effectiveness against my allergies and 1 or 2 stars for the side effect. After thinking about it I decided to give it 5 stars because I think it is an extremely effective allergy medication. I'm most likely among the small minority who experience the sleepy side effect.
